Survivor stories are the most powerful way to understand what IPV is and how it impacts health and well-being. We urge you to start here.

Second step: Learn how to screen, assess and intervene:

    2. Read some of the national screening guidelines for IPV.
    3. Understand your state's Mandatory Reporting Requirements if they have them.
    4. Watch this award winning training video on screening for abuse in the health care setting.
    5. Make your clinic a welcoming place for IPV disclosure.
    6. Learn the phone numbers and local resources in your site.
    Third step: Training
    1. Ask your local shelter for training.
    2. Read this comprehensive CDC report on training and training materials.
    3. Visit any number of websites focused on IPV training.
    4. For providers who see children exposed to violence order Shelter from the Storm: Clinical Intervention with Children Affected by Domestic Violence from the Child Witness to Violence Project.
